Book Description:
Colin Mitchell's been in love with Gwen Trueblood for
fifteen years.
He's finally going to have his chance to win her heart.
Gwen gets the shock of her life when she learns her husband David was murdered, not killed accidentally as everyone believed. Unbeknownst to her, he was placed in the Witness Protection program when he was just six years old, the son of a mobster who testified against his buddies in organized crime.
Gwen needs answers, but to find them she must go through Colin, her husband's dear friend and the last person in the world she wants to see. Before she married David, the chemistry between her and Colin was electric, causing a painful rift between David and Colin that lasted until David died.
As a U.S. Marshal, Colin was in charge of the investigation into David's death, and he's floored to discover he let the other man's killer get away. In the shadow of Boston's mafia underworld, Colin will seek the truth of what happened to David as he fights to win the love of the woman he could never forget.
Is there room in Gwen's heart for both of these men? Can she forgive herself for the attraction she felt for Colin when David was alive, or will she continue to blame herself for the good friends' separation?

4.5 stars
Suspense... CHECK!
Romance... CHECK!
I love the story.. It's not that heavy and the suspense will leave you wanting for more.. The love-scenes are not too heavy but I like how it was made..
So if you are looking for a book that has romance and suspense in one, The One Who Got Away is what you need!!

About the Author:
Amy Gamet
"I have three kids, a husband, a slightly stinky
and poorly trained dog, and an ancient calico cat who doesn't like people.
My house is in a perpetual state of disarray despite my
constant attempts to clean it. Old women at grocery stores tell me how lucky I
am, that it all goes so fast, and I nod my head and say something pithy like,
"It sure does!" while trying to keep the baby from changing the
language on the card reader screen or voiding my entire transaction.
I'm that woman.
People ask when I find time to write, and I point to my
husband, the sweet frazzled sight of him as he hoses down a screaming child
with one hand and unloads the dishwasher with the other. That, my friends, is
romance. Well, it's what the best romances turn into if you're lucky.
As you read this, I'm probably putting someone into
time-out, cleaning something, or explaining to my progeny why I put him/her
into time-out or why I shouldn't have to clean whatever it was I just cleaned.
Or maybe, if your timing is just perfectly right, I'm sitting on the purple
reclining loveseat in a basement full of toys, writing my next big novel while
my husband takes care of the chaos for a while.
For him, and for the kids and the stinky, cranky pets,
and for the opportunity to tell you a story, I am grateful. I hope you enjoy my
work." **FROM AMAZON**
