Synopsis
Going into the her second year of high school in the rural
town of Laton, Reese was ready to come out of her shell, experience life with
her best friends and find a way to tell Titus she wanted to be more than
friends. When Josh, the new student, shows up on the first day and a whirlwind
relationship starts between him and Reese, she was in her own world and barely
noticed her friend spiraling downhill. The night Josh pushed her to far her
best friend died, causing her own world to spiral.
Trying to move on from losing her best friend
and ignore what Josh did to her, Reese pulls away from everyone. She had to
overcome her fears and face her demons to be able to move forward.
Excerpt
“Can you believe what a slut Reese is?”
The short blonde asked, loudly.
“Right? Who has sex in the orchard when
there’s a party going on?”
I clenched my fists, ready to slam them
into their faces. I spun toward them, slamming my locker shut. “Listen here” I
looked out at the crowd of students scattered throughout the hall. “It’s none
of your damn business what happened with Reese after the Formal. Or Candice
either, for that matter. The next person I hear talk shit about either of my
friends, I will personally kick”—
“Titus, that’s enough.” Mr. Gustin came
over and stood next to me. He turned to the rest of the students. “All rumors
will stop. Immediately. The events that happened over the weekend are no one’s
business. The next student I hear talking about it, will be suspended.” He
looked around to everyone. “Any questions?”
Most everyone mumbled no or shook their
heads, Josh was the exception. “Since I was involved, that means I can talk
about it all I want.” He laughed. The ass laughed. I lunged forward, ready to
punch his damn face again, when Mr. Gustin clasped my shoulder and steered me
toward his office. Mr. Gustin opened his
door and motioned for me to go in.
My Review
The concept of the story is good and the flow of the story is great, I can easy follow with all the flashbacks and stuff. The characters of the story is also good, I love their personalities, even though in some parts Reese and Candice might be a bit of in denial stage it only made the story more interesting on what will happen next.
I love how the story worked with all the drama of Titus' feelings and his promise to Candice.
At first, my impression to Candice is a bit of selfish but as the story goes by I got to understand the reasons. The issue and the drama of the story is interesting that really made me curious on what will happen next to the characters especially Reese. There are some unexpected events that happened that really shocked me and I love how it brought me to the stage where it was not predictable in some parts. On how the story ended, it's good and I'm not disappointed with it.
Ms. Dee made a really good job in making this story interesting at the same time full of lesson that may apply in real life.
About the
Author
I'm a wife and mother
of four. I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I use to write
fairy tales when I was in grade school, but now I love writing about those
tough high school years and how one decision can change the course of your
life. Friendships, first loves and over coming the odds all interest me.
Three years ago, I decided life was too short to waste my stories by letting
them collect dust on my shelves. I researched querying, took a few writing
workshops and wrote the whole time. I first ventured away from what I normally
wrote and tried a Paranormal Romance. That novel is tucked safely away. A year
ago I chose to go back to my roots and write what I love - friendships, love
and choices - how speaking out can save a life, maybe yours or a friends.
I talked to other authors and made wonderful friends. That's when I learned
about self-publishing. I'm glad I followed through. I was so nervous to hit
publish, but now I am grateful for the encouragement. It was the best decision
I've ever made.
I'm usually in front
of my laptop. When I'm not writing I am either trying to catch up on a weeks
worth of laundry or on Facebook. I am a huge procrastinator. Usually close to a
deadline, you can find me actually cleaning house just so I don't have to hit
send. I think sending my books out to betas and my editor is the second
scariest thing in the world. I love Rockstars and PB&J sandwiches. (Not the
healthiest I know but it’s the fastest and it tastes good.)
I love meeting new people, find me on Facebook/deeavilaauthor

GIVEAWAY
Thank you for not being disappointed with my ending. I truly tried to end it several different ways because I know how readers feel about cliffhangers. Heck, I know how I feel about cliffhangers. LOL All those alternative endings didn't feel the right. I knew in my heart that I had to end it there. Thank you! I greatly appreciate you joining my tour and leaving such a great review! :)
